Working in Peapack-Gladstone

Peapack and Gladstone sit at the heart of the Somerset Hills, twenty minutes from my Neshanic Station studio. Natirar, the Hamilton Farm grounds, the Gladstone rail line and the hills running north give the borough an unusual concentration of the kind of setting that makes a wedding or a portrait look like it could only have happened here.

The valley through Peapack holds evening light late, which is useful when a ceremony runs long. There is a lot of stone and mature hedge in this borough, and the ground rises quickly, so you can get elevation and a real horizon within a few minutes of most addresses. The Gladstone end is more village — brick, rail platform, shopfronts — and gives a different, tighter look for portraits.
